Yoga has been part of my life for over 20 years. Initially drawn to the practice for exercise and stress relief during law school, I soon realized that yoga had much more to offer. Beyond improving physical fitness and reducing stress, yoga can change your relationship with your body and with life. Through my teaching, I hope to help people find some peace and ease in their bodies and their lives and - hopefully - the ability to be more present.
I was fortunate to find Iyengar Yoga at the beginning of my yoga journey, and when I later decided to make yoga a larger part of my life, I embarked on the years-long process of Iyengar Certification. I am now proud to be able to call myself a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and continue to pursue my studies. I take weekly classes via Zoom with Abhijata Iyengar and Marla Apt. Over the years, I've been fortunate to study with some other wonderful teachers, including Kathleen Pringle, Rebecca and Dean Lerner, John Schumacher, and Graham Williams here in Raleigh.
A former public defender, I have a passion for service. I am active in both the regional and national Iyengar Yoga associations. I previously served as membership chair and president of the Iyengar Yoga Association of the Southeast (IYASE) and am currently serving as the Regional Representative from IYASE to the Board of the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the U.S. (IYNAUS).

Are your classes appropriate for all levels?
Yes! That's part of the beauty of Iyengar Yoga - even in the same class, instructions can be adapted and poses modified to meet you where you are, whether you've been practicing for years or you're a beginner who's never before set foot on a yoga mat.
What is Iyengar Yoga?
B.K.S. Iyengar believed that you never stop learning, and this idea permeates Iyengar Yoga. Teachers are students first, practicing for years prior to certification, and remain students, constantly learning from both classes and their personal practice. The resulting intimate understanding of the poses (asanas) and of the human body enables Iyengar Yoga teachers to work with all bodies and to provide an experience that transforms asana practice into a meditation in action.
